CASA VICENTE DE PALACIO is in the Aragon River valley, right on St. James' Way. We have farm animals nearby for small children to enjoy. Our house was built in 1700, and refurbished in the year 2000. It now provides visitors with maximum comfort. Near our house is a bus station, park, quiet wooded area, and areas for sports and shopping.
CASA VICENTE DE PALACIO offers accommodation for 6 people in 2 spacious and comfortable double rooms. We have 2 extra beds and a cot available on request.
One of the nicest places in our house is the living room, which also acts as a kitchen and dining room. It is an area designed for the use and enjoyment of our guests. There is also have a full bathroom.
There are various interesting day-trips to be made from our house to the following places:
- Romanesque Route: in San Juan de la Peña, cradle of the Reconquest of Aragon, the Monasterio Viejo (Old Monastery) (10th-12th century) and one of the most emblematic buildings in Aragon is a must for visitors, as is the Monasterio Alto (High Monastery) (17th century), located in a charming meadow surrounded by woods. Another interesting site, both for its popular and religious architecture, is Santa Cruz de la Serós. This is a charming town where visitors may discover the Santa María Church (11th-12th century) and the San Caprasio Shrine, an interesting example of the Romanesque-Lombard style.
- Torla: typical Upper Aragonese town. This is the natural entrance to the Ordesa Valley in the Ordesa National Park and the Perdido Mountain, where the stunning sights to be enjoyed include the Gradas de Soaso and la Cola del Caballo Waterfalls, and paths which lead one on fascinating walks through landscapes where a wealth of wildlife may be seen. Among the species that can be observed are bearded vultures, eagles, mountain goats. The flora is and equally varied, and includes the snow flower or edelweiss, and lovely areas of beech forests. The Nature Interpretation Centre is an interesting visit. The Perdido Mountain is home to a beautiful glacier system, and offers interesting climbs and day-trips.
- The Tena Valley: is a valley of outstanding beauty offering a combination of art, landscape and outdoor activities. Visitors must not miss the Ángel Orensaz and Popular Arts of the Serrablo Museum in Sabiñánigo and in Larrés, the Drawing Museum and the Larrés Castle (12th century). Towns such as Tramacastilla are worth visiting for their original charm. Visitors may enjoy winter sports on the slopes of Panticosa, and relax in the nearby Spa in its beautiful setting. Sallent de Gállego combines the beauty of its landscape with the architectural charm of its stately houses. Like Panticosa, Formigal offers excellent facilities for skiing.
